As part of our work to ensure fishermen and coastal communities have access to relevant and supportive physical and mental health services, MCFA is contributing to a statewide program coordinated by Maine DHHS Office of Behavioral Health in partnership with the Maine CDC. We have hired several community health workers who will be providing assistance along Maine's coast. We are one of a handful of organizations throughout the state supporting individuals in the aftermath of the December and January storms. This project lasts until March 2025 and is part of StrengthenME.
Our community health workers (contact info below) will be reaching out to members of the fishing industry and coastal communities to offer services and support ongoing needs related to mental health and well-being. They can assist in accessing resources for rebuilding damaged or lost infrastructure and provide referrals to other economic and financial resources. All services are free and confidential.
